November is Pet Health Awareness Month
Knowing the signs of stress in dogs can be life saving because long term stress can cause biological changes in dogs leading to illnesses that can shorten a dogs life.
Reading your dogs body language can tell you when you need to help your dog in a stressful situation. Once you know that your dog is truly stressed you can help manage the situation so as to lessen the stress. If you can’t read dogs then you can’t help them.
Some signs of stress in dogs are very subtle. For instance, the tongue flick happens so fast that it goes unnoticed by the untrained eye. A look away with a paw lift means your dog is not comfortable in her present situation and being able to read these subtle signs, we can then help alleviate her anxiety.
Long term anxiety can wreak havoc on a dogs immune system just like it can in humans. They can only tell us with their body how they’re feeling but if we can’t read them, they are doomed to suffer unnecessarily. Let’s help them by learning to understand their language.
Dog Decoder is the only smartphone app about dog body language and shows real life situations where dogs are stressed. It has 60 imagaes beautifully and colorfully illustrated by Lili Chin of Doggie Drawings and is available in iTunes and Google play.
Get yours now and learn to read the signs of stress so that your dog can live a stress free, long and healthy life.
