Is Your Dog In Pain? Know the signs.

March 12, 2015 ·

Is your dog in pain? Do you know the signs?

Dogs present pain in their entire body. Some are easier to read than others. Here are some pictures of dogs in pain. Their behavior is also very telling if you know what to look for.

Body Languages:

  • Rounded body posture
  • Tucked Tail
  • Ears sideways or back and down
  • Eyes squinting
  • Whale eye
  • Shaking/trembling
  • Whining
  • Hiding
  • Paw Lift
  • Lethargy
  • Panting
  • Facial tension
  • Neediness

One must look at the whole dog and the context in which the dog is presenting. If any of these signs persist and you haven’t figured out a cause it would be a good time to bring your pup in to a veterinarian. Learning to read dogs will help you to recognize a dog in pain.

I really like the app. Very simple, easy to use, accurate and the drawings are great. The format is a great progression for learning. There is also a quiz that tests your knowledge.
